This messge came up suddenly, driving at 70 mph.
Pulled over, waitied for a few minutes and then continued to drive at about 50, when the message showed up again.
The temp gauge is not showing anyting abnormal and is in the middle as it alway is(150C I think..).
I managed to get to work but am thinking of getting it towed to a garage later in the day.
Has anyone seen something similar? I had the vaccum lines replaced recently.
Not sure if this is going to lead up to a timing belt replacement (approaching 100k miles) or if it is an electrical issue.
(Probably unrelated, but recently my Monsoon radio has broken down and works only sporadically. I had posted about this issue, in this forum, a few days ago.)

My 2004 V6 with 244K miles flashed me this message on MFI.
"Stop check coolant service manual"
I looked at the temp gauge and it was steady at 200F. The message went away after 5 minutes. Then a couple of days later, I got the same message which went away after a few minutes. This message shows immediately after the car is out in the bitter cold all night. I got out of the car and checked underneath, nothing. So, I left it overnight and next morning I saw a white residue as if it was running away from the car, but towards the back of the vehicle and not front. But we also had bitterly cold temps, snow last night. Don’t know if this is the coolant leaking out or just melted ice. Opened the blue cap where it says G12 and I don’t see coolant. All I see is "max" sign and nothing beneath it. Doesn’t mean the coolant is somewhere underneath where I can’t see. Anyways, I moved the car to a different spot tonight. Will check if there is any leak.
What does this message probably mean if anyone encountered it? Should I go to a dealer and buy some G12 coolant and top it off to the max? I am really hoping this won’t be a big deal as I am about to say Adios in a few months, to my Treg after 10 years of service. Thanks.

Transmission whines when cold and shifts on the edge
Sounds like it maybe slipping, try checking the transmission fluid level and add as necessary to full mark of near full mark, which is in the operating range, could do what I did with my windstar minivan, add in the Lucas Transmission Fix, for your Ford Taurus you’ll need Mercon ATF ( Automatic Transmission Fluid ) unless its a manual transmission or differently specified which then will need different fluid, check the owners manual, repair manual or phone Ford and ask them for transmission fluid type. Keep in mind that the wrong fluid type in transmission and or wrong amounts ( overfilled ) or ( underfilled ) can affect the transmission’s proper operation.
Also check your coolant, when coolant level is low the light will come on the dash cluster and add as needed, Fords usually use the green coolant, green colored coolant or could use the universal type coolant. Check the owners manual, look in a repair manual or ask Ford technician for the coolant type.

How to know when there is enough antifreeze in radiator
Hello there and welcome to fixya
Checking your radiator fluid:
Every modern vehicle has a Radiator fluid overflow compartment that is translucent so you can see where the coolant level is without removing the cap. On the side of the compartment there is a full line and an add line. the coolant should be between the two lines. If it’s below the add level add 50% water/coolant to the full level.
The green line is the full line, the red line is the add line in the picture.
If you don’t have antifreeze but you need fluid, add distilled water, not ordinary tap water, so mineral deposits won’t build in the radiator and cause corrosion or blockage. However, you should keep the correct ratio of water and coolant to prevent corrosion and for the highest level of overheat or freeze protection.
To check the fluid IN your radiator
you will need to remove the radiator cap. DO NOT remove the radiator cap while the engine is hot. The contents are under pressure and many people have gotten severe burns by removing the radiator cap when it is too hot.
Notice the word "caution" on the cap in the picture.
It goes on to say the contents are under pressure.
IF you have no choice, but to remove the cap when hot, use a towel and remove it slowly to release pressure before you get the cap off.
The fluid in the radiator should be at the top of the radiator.
Make sure you keep 50% water/coolant mixture in the radiator. Some people put more antifreeze in during the winter, but never put more than 70% coolant. It will reduce it’s ability to carry heat away from the engine and prevent corrosion.
